The Sweat Lodge - Temazcal
|
A traditional Native Mexican and Native North American Ceremony; A temazcal is a purifying and healing experience working directly with the four elements: fire, earth, water and air, thus allowing one to connect to the origins of life itself. The temazcal is built upon principles of sacred geometry. It is a low dome - like structure which represents the womb of mother earth which cradles and nurtures all living creatures. Before entering, as the fire heats the stones, each person is given a ‘limpia' - a spiritual and energetic cleansing with feathers, copal smoke, and the power of the ‘curandero'. |

All enter the temazcal in a ceremonial way and welcome the hot stones. Once inside, the red hot stones are bathed in a medicinal tea producing a purifying steam. Through ritual, songs, drumming, guided visualization, and the effect of the steam, the mind, body, heart and soul are able to cleanse, release toxins and much more. When the ceremony is over, we all leave the temazcal, the womb of mother earth, re-born and full of vitality. The Temazcal lasts approximately 3 hours, with facilities to bathe after the cleansing. Please bring water to drink, a swimsuit and towel, or wear clothes you're not afraid to get wet or muddy. |
Check our calendar for dates! During the rainy season the climate decides if we can give the Temazcal or not!!!
