Awakening the Healer (Yi, Qi, Li)
Discover what we are truly made of by awakening the consciousness of the energy that flows through us, Qi. By going back to the elements and our origin we can reconnect ouselves to the true nature of the world. Feel how this moves by studying and practising different healing techniques. Awakening the Healer is a three level residential diploma course (a retreat) focusing on self awareness and the healing of oneself, moving towards the discovery of the healing needs of others. |

Qi is the vital energy, the essential life force, of all living things. Its nature is movement to maintain balance. Each human being has a unique frequency, which vibrates distinctly from others. When Qi energy is blocked the frequencies are altered creating ‘dis-ease'. Unblocking Qi and realigning these frequencies is fundamental to all healing techniques.
This course fuses Oriental, Pre–Hispanic Mexican and Native North American Medicine. It takes you on a path of self–discovery: through ceremony, temazcal, meditation, exercises for postural awareness, nutrition and hands-on healing, participants will learn about their own Qi and how to use it to heal themselves first and then heal others.
The concept of a residential course at Centro Nijo was developed to provide our students with the time and space needed to focus awareness, without the pressures of everyday life. Here, students are surrounded by natural beauty, in a place of great power and peace: Centro Nijo is located near Punta Cometa, where the strength of the Pacific Ocean pounds against the Earth, a place that allows you, the student, to discover the quality of your own energy (physical, mental and spiritual).
- Both beginners and experienced practitioners are welcome.
- Levels must be taken consecutively.
- Taught in Spanish, English and Italian. A basic level of Spanish is necessary.

LEVEL 1 – AN INTRODUCTION TO VITAL ENERGY – QI
(5 days)
Level one focuses primarily on the cleansing and healing of the student by awakening the consciousness of their Qi within. It enables the student to begin to sense, feel and move Qi. Using the ancient technique of Oriental Massage, students will learn to both give and receive massage – feeling the movement of Qi within themselves and the other person. Oriental massage is an art that realigns the frequencies along the meridians, through massage, pressure, percussion, stretching and friction. The seed of awareness is planted. |
 |
LEVEL 2 – CONFIRMATION OF INTENT – YI
(7 days)
To awaken the healer from within, the seed of awareness of Qi begins to grow by discovering the power of intent (Yi). In order to heal oneself and others the student has to understand the effect that the mind has on our energy. In Level Two, students further develop the sophistication of Oriental Massage. Through an initiation in Reiki I (universal life energy) students begin to feel the subtleties of Qi more. It is impossible to heal without a clear focused intent. In addition, this level takes a look at the subtleties of plant energy and their healing properties through the study and application of basic herbology. |
 |
LEVEL 3 – THE DEVELOPMENT OF STRENGTH – LI
(9 days and 40 days clinical practice)
The carefully nurtured seed has grown into a plant, what it now needs is the strength to florish, to have the power to concentrate intent and Qi, and have the strength to maintain this focus throughout a whole treatment. Developing this focus takes Oriental Massage into therapy and is further strengthened by Reiki II. Completing this formation as a healer the student is taught the technique of Reflexology. In this healing art we are taken back to the feet – to their energetic connection with the body, where we receive the power from our fundamental connection with mother Earth. We are ready to begin the path of a healer. |

General Course Details
This is a practical course, and every minute is treated as an apprentiship. A ceremonial fire will be lit throughout the week offering a space for reflection. Each morning begins with postural awareness exercises, and ends with meditation. Throughout the day there will be theory and practice of the different healing techniques. Some basic maps of energy will be given, such as the body Meridians, the Chakras, yin-yang and the Wheel of Medicine. A set diet will be maintained throughout and one day will include a liquid fast to help cleanse and accommodate your energy. Each meal is taken in a sacred way, aware of the energy it gives us, giving thanks to Mother Earth. To connect to the elements we offer a temazcal and a night vigil over the fire.
