About the Centro Nijo
Centro Nijo is a Healing Centre, located near Ventanilla, on the coast of Oaxaca, Mexico. A place that integrates Healing with Ecology, Education, Culture and the local Community. Our belief is that if we can connect, balance and honour all these concepts, we can live in full vitality. As each individual finds their true place in harmony with the world and universe. Our aim is to reawaken and balance the vital connections between body, mind and spirit and the natural world which we are all a part of. |

We are a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting and sustaining a healthy lifestyle. We practise a unique combination of healing traditions from the Orient as well as local traditions of the indigenous peoples of Mexico and North America.
Founded originally in 1998 as ‘The Nijo Centre', a non-profit organisation registered in England, but based in Mexico, Centro Nijo is the dream of our founder, Aldo Fogazza. |

First conceptualised as a place to provide residential space and alternative medical treatment for children and the elderly – traditionally the most disenfranchised in society – Centro Nijo has grown to be much more, while still striving to someday realise this particular dream.
In 2002, Centro Nijo was incorporated as a non-profit in Oaxaca, Mexico. Here we currently operate a Consultorio of Alternative Medicine, treating patients of all ages, and a School of Healing Arts, offering courses in alternative medicine and community classes for young people and adults.
For those who have asked themselves, what is ‘Nijo' exactly'? Our name, Centro Nijo, comes from the contraction of two Spanish words, ‘niño' and ‘viejo', which mean ‘child' and ‘old one' respectively. Having been founded on the philosophy of combining the innocence of youth with the wisdom of our ancestors, this principle orientates our work and guides all we do. |
